Meet The Newest Member Of The Bat-Family – Batkid – Miles Scott!
By: Jay

If you thought that superheroes didn’t get any cuter than the Tiny Titans than you’re wrong, because the newest member of the Bat-Family; 5-year-old Batkid – Miles Scott is the cutest hero to ever don a cape and cowl.

The streets of San Franciscohave been transformed into GothamCityso that a young leukemia victim can have his dream of becoming a superhero come true.

Five-year-old Miles Scott, from SikiyouCounty, near Oregon, was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months and after a four-year battle Scott is in remission. Scott’s wish was granted when the Make-A-Wish Foundation teamed up with the city of San Franciscoto give the brave boy the adventure of a lifetime.

When the charity, which grants wishes to ill children asked young Miles to name his dream, his answer was: :I want to be Batkid!”

The day finally came today when he was called into action by San Francisco Police Chief  Greg Suhr. Thousands of people volunteered to help cheer for the newest Caped Crusader as they lined the streets and cheered as he emerged from the Batmobile (driven by an adult Batman) before freeing a damsel who had been tied to cable car tracks.

News cameras were there to witness the debut of the hero and his first day on the job was action packed. Just as the damsel embraced and thanked Batkid he got a call that the Riddler was trying to rob a vault downtown, so the new Dynamic Duo headed to the financial district to thwart the thief.

After the police hauled the Duke of Dilemmas from the bank, Batman and Batkid headed to Burger Bar to refuel. While at Burger Bar Batkid received a call on his Batphone and was told to go to the window. When he looked down he saw a huge group of Gotham citizens screaming for his help.

The Penguin had kidnapped a famous GothamCity mascot – Lou Seal. Batman and his partner Batkid hopped in the Batmobile and raced to the AT&T park to apprehend the villain free Lou Seal, the San Francisco Giants mascot since 1996.

After catching the Penguin, Batkid made his way to his final stop; City Hall, where the Mayor and the Police Chief of GothamCity thanked him and presented him with the key to the city.

Batkid’s praises extended beyond the City of Gothamwith Senator Dianne Feinstein tweeted: “Thanks for saving Gotham, Batkid!” But it didn’t end there even President Barack Obama tweeted about Batkid’s debut, and a video congratulating the young hero.

To prepare for his day of heroics, Miles underwent acrobatic training with his “Batman”, inventor and acrobat Eric Johnston, to prepare him his big day.

Johnston and his wife, Sue Grahm Johnston, who played the damsel, even created Bat-Gadgets such as a wrist communicator that played previously recorded messages from San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr for Batkid all day.

When asked what he thought about Batkid, Johnstonsaid: “He’s an excellent superhero because he's a totally mild-mannered kid when the mask is off. But when he puts on the armored Batsuit, he's uncontainable. He shines.”

At the event around 1,000 special edition Gotham City Chronicle newspapers were handed out at Union Squarewith the headline: BatkidSavesCity.

Andrew Fargo, curator of the CartoonArt Museum in San Francisco, reached out to cartoonist, artist and DC Comics. Graham Nolan, who drew Batman in the 1990s and co-created the villain Bane, was the first to respond – and sent a drawing of Miles as Batkid fighting Bane. Nolan signed it: “For Miles, a real superhero!”

“We certainly all were children who had dreams of being a superhero and being larger than life,” Farago told the Mercury News.“But I think this has touched people because most of us have never had to overcome the obstacles that this boy has.”

Miles certainly had an action-packed day saving damsels in distress and taking down two of Batman’s biggest foes, Riddler and Penguin, but it is also an important day for his family. “This wish has meant closure for our family and an end to over three years of putting toxic drugs in our son's body,” said his mother Natalie.

Introducing the Gonzogoose... HONK!

Hey everybody, it's me, it's me, it's that BF Double G! Brant Fowler, aka, the Gonzogoose has come to the frontline... Comic Frontline, that is!

You may know me from Dark Avenger INC, where I occasionally post reviews, other fun videos and once in a while, appear on the live show. And you may have heard me on the Zone 4 podcast, which airs every Friday.

What you may or may not know, though, is I also co-own and operate a comic news site called ComicRelated.com. We've been around for over 9 years now and are still continuing to grow.

Which brings me to why I'm here! You may notice that snazzy little CR circle logo to your right. It's right there, just pan over slightly... a little more... there it is. See? Comic Related has recently partnered up with Comic Frontline, and you'll see a lot more collaboration between the two sites in the days, weeks and months to come!

You can already find links to CF on CR's blog page and About page, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Now, I can't promise that I'll personally post a lot over here as my duties are primarily to CR and INC, as well as my "day job" of lettering and flatting comics! But that doesn't mean I won't be around. I'll be behind the scenes working some cool stuff out to share with everyone here and on CR. But heck, I'm enjoying this post here so much, I may start a regular feature over here...

It's our hope to promote each other in this new arrangement. After all, one of the unofficial cliche sayings of Comic Related is "We all rise and fall together." That simply means we like to take the approach of supporting each other and building each other up. And the folks at Comic Frontline are the same way, so it's a perfect fit!

So be on the lookout for some cool stuff to come. Comic Frontline, I'm told, has already made some great strides to bring you even more content than before, and with us all pulling together, I'm sure we'll be bringing some awesome stuff your way very soon!

And with that, I must bid you adieu for now. But know that I am very excited about the potential here, and we at Comic Related can't thank EVERYONE involved with Comic Frontline enough for welcoming us in and sharing with us their wonderful content!

Until next time, thanks for reading!

Hey everyone I’m Chris aka The Dark Avenger on Youtube, I’m also co-creator and founder of Dark Avenger INC my group page. Now “Dark Avenger” is more of a title or Youtube Nickname I gave myself, most of the time I’m fine just being known as/called Chris. I've grown up with comics since I was about eleven years old and I haven't stopped reading/collecting since. For more on my history with comics check out my channel on Youtube.

That’s mostly stuff you know about me, what most of you probably did NOT know about me was way before Youtube was cool back in the days where Myspace was more of a social network I was a really popular blogger. What the heck is Myspace now a day’s anyway!? I actually recently went back on my Myspace to take a trip down memory lane in my blog section before writing this post…but Myspace doesn’t have blogs anymore and completely erased it from everyone’s profile, so sufficed to say I don’t have a Myspace anymore. Sorry got a bit off topic there, but I use to love to blog growing up and apparently A LOT of people liked to read or listen to my problems. Funny story is I was a reviewer before I even took the title on Youtube, a fair amount of my blog posts were actual reviews of games, movies, and you guessed it comic books…most of the rest was life stuff that I’m sure y’all don’t want to hear on here at least heh.

After about seven years of Youtube-ing I think it’s time to dust off the old keyboard and return to my roots a bit. So if you guys will have me, I’d love to give this a second go. I have a lot of ideas for reviews, features, and posts for Frontline! As always I’m here for you all and plan to give you nothing but the best and most entertaining if possible. I’m always open for suggestions and ideas (that’s what the comment box at the bottom of this post is for). Oh the fun we all will have heh-heh.

Now really quick disclaimer about myself, why do I need a disclaimer you ask? Well mostly because I have experience blogging before and I have heard it all, so I’d rather warn you now than hear it later. First off I don’t have perfect grammar, huge paragraphs followed by small ones, and tons of other writing no-no’s so please don’t bother correcting me! This isn’t English class and I’m not going to have someone proof read every single post I write! Second there are times I may be hypocritical, redundant, I may contradict myself, hell I may say something one day and then say the complete opposite the next with little to no reason why, and I may talk a bit openly (but no cursing so no worries there). I am not perfect you know, I am a living, breathing human being not a robot as contrary to popular belief. I’m here to have fun as well as to get down to business. As a father to be I know my days of making videos at all hours of the night and day are nearing an end, but let me make perfectly clear will never stop, just be curbed a little! However when it comes to writing I can start writing something then come back whenever I have the free time to finish it, unlike with a video where it would look really stupid to have several hiccups (or cuts) in the video due to having to shoot it several times to make the full video.

It’s an honor to be here and I look forward to where Comic Frontline will go from here and all the amazing things that will come of it. If Frontline is anything Like INC I know it will be amazing! I have high hopes for this site and everyone that is working on in front and behind the scenes! Later everyone ^_^.

DC Comics Releases First Look at HARLEY QUINN #1

Yesterday, HARLEY QUINN #0 hit stands, launching an all-new ongoing solo series for the notorious and fan-favorite character. This special issue contained art by a jaw-dropping cast of artists contributing to co-writer Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's fourth wall-breaking story – including Bruce Timm, Jim Lee, Becky Cloonan, Adam Hughes, Darwyn Cooke, Sam Keith, newcomer Jeremy Roberts, and many more astounding talents!

But as of next month’s HARLEY QUINN #1, the regular series artist will be Chad Hardin, whose recent work includes the Villains Month one-shot, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #7.3: SHADOW THIEF.

“Harley is a complex character and we are going to build on her background, motivations and her home and supporting cast. Sort of what we did with Power Girl but with a mix of a bit more homicidal maniac added in,” Palmiotti said. “She is the hero in her own story. What happens, who gets killed, what house gets burned down and so on, well, that’s just part of her story. She looks at the world differently and we will be building on that and looking even closer on her past and what makes her tick. There are so many layers to this fantastic character that we cannot wait to explore.”

“She will be trying to live a normal-ish life with new people in a new environment. What kind of upheaval will she throw her new surroundings into? We’re going to take into account that Harley’s ‘normal’ isn’t the rest of everybody’s ‘normal,’” Conner elaborated. “Her supporting cast will be less superhero-like (for now) and more like the rest of us. Kind of. We will be working all that into the storylines, and part of the entertainment will be in seeing how those characters deal with her being around.”

Let us know in the comments what you think about this First Look at HARLEY QUINN #1 and don't forget to follow us on Twitter for the lastest Previews, Reviews News and Interviews!

JUPITER'S LEGACY

Announcing JUPITER’S LEGACY GIANT-SIZED EDITION

64 pages of mind bending action for only $3.99

Quitely and Millar's tale of what happens when the first Wave of superheroes grow old while their children enjoy a life of celebrity, sex, and drugs has seen record-breaking sales, enthusiastic reactions from fans, and fascinating speculation on where this maxi-series could go next. In light of the overwhelming success of JUPITER'S LEGACY, Image Comics is honored to present 64 pages of content for only $3.99 in JUPITER'S LEGACY GIANT-SIZED EDITION #1, a collection of the first three issues of one of the biggest series of 2013.

Releasing December 26th, JUPITER'S LEGACY GIANT-SIZED EDITION #1 is the perfect opportunity for readers to get in on the ground floor of this series in time for the release of the fourth issue in January 2014. After the shocking and unprecedented events in JUPITER'S LEGACY #3, everything we know is wrong. The story can go anywhere, the cast can do anything, and, depending on their point of view, the world is either their prison...or their oyster. Who lives? Who dies? Who will save us all from the superhero revolution?
JUPITER’S LEGACY has garnered rave reviews from the press and cultivated a cult following readership. A taste of the praise for JUPITER'S LEGACY.

Mike Spider-Slayers Thoughts: While other Comic companies continue to charge extreme amounts of money for certain books or release titles twice a month, you are forced to make tough choices between your favorite titles, Image continues the complete opposite. Image comics continues to deliver content for an affordable price for there readers. Many books from Image Comics continue to be at the $2.99 price point. Including The Walking Dead. Image Comics also has Image First, where you can get the first Issue of a series for a $1.00. The company is fantastic at releasing trades at a reasonable time and a reasonable price. For Example The Walking Dead Vol 1 $9.99, Saga Vol. 1 $9.99, and Chew Vol. 1 $9.99 and here again with Jupiter's Legacy where you get the first 3 Issues of the Series for $3.99. So what I am trying to say, is maybe other comic companies should do a better job at inviting readers to try their titles. Instead of cheap gimmicks or long drawn out events.

Thanks for Reading Comic Fans!!

Happy Batsgiving DC Gives Us Batman Eternal Teasers
By: Jay

Each week since the New 52 DC has given us a two-page “News Program” titled Channel 52. DC uses these two-pages to give little “updates” on their books like showing that Wonder Woman is now the God of War, or that the Society of Supervillains have taken over the world. Well this week we’re treated to one of DC’s teaser images for Batman Eternal, just like the ones we got for Blackest Night and Brightest Day. What does this new image teases us with? Check out some of the things I found.

  • Carmine Falcone is alive and is holding court with Roadrunner and Tiger Shark.

  • In the tree another court’s presence is felt as the owl ensures that the Court of Owls are still out there watching over Gotham.

  • Batwoman is with Maggie Sawyer and looks like Maggie put a ring on it since Batwoman is wearing a ring on her right ring finger, which is the LGBT community is a silent protest for marriage equality. Also note how Maggie is motioning for Batwoman to join the rest of the Bat-Family. Could this mean that the Batwoman book will no longer be separate from the rest of the Bat Books?

  • Commissioner Gordon is in Handcuffs with remorse on his face, and Harvey stands over him as a guard, but is looking away.

  • An object in the water appears to be frozen. The work of Mr. Freeze? Or is that the Penguin’s clud, The Iceberg Lounge?

  • Batgirl is back in her Batgirl costume.

  • Red Hood standing behind Batgirl, and looking into the distance. Is this Jason?

  • Batwing is standing prominently could this mean that he is taking on a bigger role in Gotham? Is that his girlfriend behind him looking at him?

  • A red headed woman with Poison Ivy behind her on the building, I think this might be Poison Ivy.

  • Professor Pyg and the Penguin are talking while Professor Pyg is hold a train in his hands. Are these two villains teaming up and what does the train mean?

  • The villains are all at the table with no one at the head could this be reserved for the Joker? While the Joker’s daughter is under the table and her left foot is right under that chair. Could the Joker be returning?

  • Catwoman is standing by the table but looking towards the heroes. This could be because she has a foot on both sides of that line.

  • All the bones. Could these be the skeletons in the closet?

  • Titus, the Bat-Hound is standing with a Robin on him. Could this be the return of his master Robin, Damian Wayne?

  • The younger members of the Bat-Family are together with Talon, Red Robin, Harper Row, and a female with a purple hood, who has been revealed to be the Spoiler, Stephanie Brown.

  • Alfred is presenting Batman with the turkey and is in a straight jacket.

  • Finally we have Batman, who is sitting down and the smoke coming from behind him is very interesting and symbolic I think.
Those are the things I found IN the teaser, but what is missing?
That's right Dick Grayson, Nightwing is nowhere to be seen, or is he?

Those are the things I spotted in this teaser. Did I miss something? If so let me know in the comments and let me know your thoughts on what I did find and my speculations on them in the comments below. Also don't forget to follow us on Twitter

TV Review: The Vampire Diaries S5 Ep8 "Dead Man on Campus"

One of my favorite TV shows is The Vampire Diaries. So I decided to review the latest episode on Frontline. Season 5 has had some fun things so far, but also a number of downfalls. Some downfalls for me was the Silas storyline. There were too many dopplegangers, and Tessa was not a likable character. Nina Dobrev's multiple performances with Katherine, Elena, and Amora was the only saving grace. But now lets jump into this week's episode.

Story:

The doppleganger story is finally over and the episode starts with the mystery at Whitmore College. Bonnie is alive again because she is now the anchor to the regular and supernatural world. She is a ghost, but still alive. (I know complicated) Her death also means she is not a witch anymore.

Katherine is dealing with her humanity and her new death sentence. This causes friction between her long lost daughter.

Jesse has finally returned and the group has discovered that he is the new Augustine Vampire. What makes the Augustine Vampire from other vampires? They are addicted to Vampire blood. Jesse goes after Damon after tasting Caroline's blood. Elena saves Damon, but at the cost of Jesse's life . Let's just say that Caroline was very upset at Elena because of this. The cliffhanger of the episode shows that Damon has also been experimented on as an Augustine Vampire in the past.

The Good:

The story feels simpliar with Silus out of the equation. One of the things I was most looking forward to for season 5 was Bonnie, Caroline, and Elena's college experience. Especially since we never got to see their high school experience that much (Vampire Diaries Fandom's Inside Joke). We get to see that to it's fullest in this episode, jello shots included.

Jesse was a fun vampire. They developed his character enough to make you care for him when they kill him off in the end of this episode. I love the comment Damon makes about "professor" forbes. Caroline was a good teacher to Jesse. It brings me back to when she first turned and Stefan was whipping the blood of her face.

Previously stated, I think the doppleganger story line really brought down this season. That doesn't mean I still don't love Katherine. Katherine has been one of my favorite things about this season. Her turning into a human makes her more likable without losing her Katherine Pierce charm. Her attempt in suicide made us fully connect with the character. I love how Nina Dobrev is able to balance both Elena and Katherine. You forget that it is the same actress playing both these characters.

The Bad:

I hate Stefan this season. It just seems like that the writers have run out of ideas for him. He is just mopey. I don't even think he deserves to be with Katherine.

I am also not really interested in the traveller story. It is just an excuse to stick Matt somewhere. I think Matt deserves better than that.

The Damon ending confused me. If Damon is an Augustine vampire than why is he not addicted to vampire blood. I am sure we will learn more but the cliffhanger felt underwhelming to me.

Speculations:

I have a feeling that Elena will become an Augustine vampire, but because of her doppleganger blood or connection to the Gilberts she will not be a "ripper" for Vampire blood.

I also see a rocky future for Elena and Caroline's friendship. I hated when they did this last season, but it seems like we are going to get some more drama with these two. Who agrees that Caroline should just be with Klaus in The Originals?

Verdict:

This is one of the better episodes of the season. I am excited to see the Augustine Vampire storyline continue. It is something fresh and original for the show. But lets also give Stefan something to do before we start having some post traumatic stress with his worthless story lines.
