Kickstart the Week(end) with Ghost Island #1-#3: A Supernatural Horror Series

Welcome to Ghost Island—what the creators like to call “Jurassic Park but with ghosts”.  This Kickstarter is for funding the first 3 issues of the 5 issue black & white supernatural horror comic mini-series. Get ready for their grand opening!

Ghost Island is about a wealthy entrepreneur planning on opening a theme park on an island he has filled with his collection of imprisoned ghosts. But right before the opening, he brings a small group of people to the island in order to assist him, including troubled psychic Josh Evans. And while Josh has been accused of horrible things after his wife disappeared, now he must face the evil minds of the ghosts on the island.

The series is written by Joseph Oliveira, the person behind British Horror Comic Publishing House Aftrerlight Comics. Oliveira is also a BAFTA nominated filmmaker. The artist is Anabela Turlione, who got her PhD in physics in 2015 and decided to devote herself to drawing instead.

The first three issues of Ghost Island will be successively funded if the Kickstarter reached its $2,164 goal by May 25, 2018 at 5:00 AM EDT. They’re even offering the first issue for free here. Rewards for the project include digital (£6) and signed physical (£18) copies of the first 3 issues of Ghost Island as well as various options for posters (£24) or t-shirts (£24). I interviewed writer Joseph Oliveira in-depth about his island full of ghosts.

Me: What about Jurassic Park inspired you to create this horror story?

Oliveira: It wasn’t actually intentional at all; really the link came to Jurassic Parkafterwards. I was sitting at a comic convention with a friend at a comic con explaining to him the story of Ghost Island to pitch to someone if I were to go for a toilet break and he replied to me “Oh so it’s Jurassic Parkbut with ghosts.” I honestly hadn’t made the link until that moment.

Me: You mention a small group of people who come to the island—how would you describe each of the people in this group, as well as the entrepreneur behind the island?

Oliveira: You have a psychic, a priest, a non-believer and his son, and two reporters. Each of them bring a very interesting dynamic to the story as they’re all from such different backgrounds. The scenes between different characters really feel fresh and tangible.


Me: Who are some of the ghosts we can expect to see lurking around Ghost Island?

Oliveira: In Issue #2 you meet a Ghost penned as “The Butcher.” Psychic Josh Evans goes into his past and finds out his horrific past and what led him to be imprisoned on the island. There’s dozens and dozens of ghosts locked up the island to explore more of further in the series

Me: If you had the choice between going to Jurassic Park or Ghost Island, knowing what could go wrong will go wrong, which island would you go to in the hopes of having a better chance at surviving?

Oliveira:Now that is a tough one! I’m going to go with Jurassic Park! With Ghost Island there’s this sinister undertone and lingering mystery of the whole place that I certainly couldn’t see myself lasting a night there.


Me: What inspired you to initially create AfterLight Comics and what is the publisher’s mission statement?

Oliveira: My first comic was Ghost Island and since then I started getting new ideas and wanted to really be recognized under a certain brand. That’s where AfterLight Comics came in. Our latest successful horror title was Folktales Of The Cryptids. The mission statement is that we’re the place to bring you the best horror stories told when the lights are out. We’ve got so many more interesting scary projects coming up we’ll be announcing soon.

Me: You also worked as an award-winning filmmaker. Why did you decide to transition from filmmaking to comics and what have been your favorite aspects of each?

Oliveira: I just found the entry level to comics so much easier. With filmmaking most of the time you need this big gigantic team of people, lighting, sound, cameraman, editor, etc. With comics it can literally be you and the artist and I love that. Things don’t get lost in chains of command and you can really get your vision across.


Me: Some of the rewards include other AfterLight titles. Can you tell us a bit about these other titles and why people who enjoy Ghost Island would enjoy them as well?

Oliveira: SoFolktales Of the Cryptids was our last successful comic Kickstarter where it’s four short horror tales each based on a Cryptid legend. It’s been described as Fantastic Beasts as written by George A. Romero.

Me: What do you think is the number one reason why people should pledge money to Ghost Island?

Oliveira: If you enjoy horror, mystery, and the supernatural this will be a genuine read I’d hope you’d enjoy. It plays out like an episodic series and after reading and getting to the end of the first issue I’ll guarantee that you’ll want to find out what happens next.


Me: What inspirational words do you have for aspiring comic book writers?

Oliveira: Be the hardest worker you can be and you’ll get the rewards.

Kickstart the Week(end) with Neither Here Nor Hair Anthology

Kickstart your weekend with this Kickstarter anthology about every kind of hair you can imagine. With 14 Australian creators, this anthology draws from creators’ personal experiences.

This anthology explores everyday experiences with hair—whether it’s on your head, face, legs or elsewhere! Creators include Sarah Catherine Firth, Ele Jenkins, Emma Jean, Leonie Brialey, Alex E Clark, Claire Murray, Michel Gerencir, Alyce Sarich, Natalia Zajaz, Soolagna Majumdar, Danikah Harrison, Sarah W Searle and Alisha Jade.

The goal of the project is to reach $3,772 by May 27, 2018 at 10:18 PM EDT. The money made from the Kickstarter will go toward creator bonuses for their hard work on the anthology. Rewards include digital (AU $7-about $5) and softcover (AU $15-about $11) copies of the anthology as well as a Kickstarter limited edition numbered print of the cover (AU $50-about $37). I spoke with the person who helmed the anthology, Alisha Jade, who also wrote one of the stories.

Me: Your anthology grew out of your minicomic Disgusting! - what initially inspired this minicomic and why did you feel it was important to expand it?

Jade: I was initially inspired to create Disgusting! after months of altercations with my family about not shaving my legs - I'd always disliked doing it but over the past few years I decided to stop entirely and my family (especially my mother) were very vocal about how disgusting I was. So it was my rage comic! I decided to expand when the minicomic got such a response from readers. So many of them connected with the story on a personal level. It became clear that this was a bigger thing than I had anticipated and there was so little published about it I thought it would be silly not to try.

Me: How did you go about getting the various women to become part of this anthology and could you tell us a bit about each of them?

Jade: I already have a pretty good network of people I've worked with before or who have expressed an interest, so I just opened it up a little on social media and soon had more than enough people who were keen to get involved. Initially I had just planned a little zine but it quickly got to a point that it was clear this would be a full book. Also, I pay people, which really helps.

There are fourteen people involved so I'll just highlight a few - we have three creators living in Perth, which is the opposite side of Australia to most of us. This is really big, as in previous years the east and west have really been operating in separate circles but we're bridging that gap a little. They are Soolagna Marjumdar, who made the Marge Anime comics, Alyce Sarich, who makes the webcomic Daemon, and Sarah Winifred Searle, who has published a number of comics and just had a new book announced through publisher First Second. It's really exciting to have them in the book!

Me: The various creators in this anthology are all from Australia. Do you feel there are any cultural differences between how hair is viewed in Australia versus other countries?

Jade: I'm sure there are - I find that Australia is reasonably conservative when it comes to its approach to personal grooming of almost any kind so you don't see a whole lot of people sporting creative looks. This is true for any gender - men included. It might be related to Tall Poppy Syndrome in a way, which is a shame because there are so many people out there who would love to change things up but feel pressured to confirm to a tight set of norms.

Me: Are there any plans to further expand this concept in another anthology or minicomic?

Jade: I'll have to see how this book goes. Cultural norms and how weird they are have a special place in my heart though so if everything goes well I'm sure there'll be more comics to come. It's a shame that for something that we get bombarded with so many messages about there are so few opportunities for people to tell their own stories. But we can change that!

Me: How would you describe you story in this anthology and why you felt it was important to share?

Jade: My own story in the anthology is about the relationship between hair and family, specifically how even though I was actively forced to have long hair growing up all of the important women in my life had short hair. I learned a lot about this in making the comic - it is very different from the story I thought I would initially tell. I felt that it was important because we don't give enough thought to how our environments and upbringing shapes us in ways that seem small but have such an impact on our lives. And it's okay to acknowledge these things.

Me: What is the number one reason you think people should pledge your Kickstarter?

Jade: Because they're great comics! And there's something really cool and subversive around being able to read really grassroots personal stories in a way that fiction can't match. We're not taught to be expressive about ourselves and I like that we can shake that off to really connect with other people on things that affect us all.

Jade: Just start! The only person holding you back from making a comic is you.

Insight Comics Invites You To Skip To The End!

I love that Babs had to do the opposite of her instincts to break the spell, and I'm a sucker for a good secret identity reveal - even if it's fake.

This is the love I want to see between Tim and Stephanie, this feels more like a partnership.

3. Detective Comics #981 - I Know What The Bat Means


This is Stephanie Brown!!! It's the perfect balance of disobedience and respect for Batman. She knows what the bat means, and that's why it's always powerful when she defies it.

A great cliffhanger to get this event rolling!

This is why I love Stephanie Brown! She is such an underdog. People always underestimate her, but even with the odds against her she will always get that last punch.

5. Invincible Iron Man #600 - Mazinger Z: Infinity Killed Sue Dibney?


Can you tell that Bendis is going to DC Comics? Loved the Sue Dibney name drop here, Bendis seemed to make an effort to do them in his last issues. But I also love the Mazinger Z, more specific Mazinger Z: Infinity nod. I loved Tranzor Z (the American name of the Mazinger Z adapted Anime) growing up and I mentioned it on Frontline LIVE and Media Madness more than once, so to see his name here was just awesome for me.

4. X-Men Gold #28 - The New One Punch!


I love the one punch! It all started when Batman had enough of Guy Gardner and laid him out with just one punch and Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) cracked up. The one punch has been used a few times since then, and now it is Kitty's turn to use it! I also love that Kurt is the "Blue Beetle" here giving commentary.

3. Super Sons #16 - Bat Sons Is Ridiculous!


This is why I love this pairing! They are this perfect childhood friendship, they have this enthusiasm and this fun that just makes you smile. This is what I love about the Super Sons and Damian and Jon's relationship. Plus the Bat Sons is ridiculous.

2. Detective Comics #981 - I Am A Bat!


I LOVED this scene! Cass is owning her life here, she is taking what is here and proclaiming she is a Bat! Now come on DC give her back the suit and the name Black Bat!

1. The Flash #47 - Those Who Ride The Lightning....


I know most people are going to focus on the last page with Jai and Iris' suits in the cases at the Flash Museum, but this is where it really hits. We have Wally seeing Bart and Max, then seeing his actual kids with him and his wife. This hits hard. He sees Jai and Iris, not empty suits but he sees the twins in Iris' arms they are real, and tangible. But I am not sure which I found more interesting, Jai & Iris or Bart & Max. Plus if they all do return what will Bart's name be? He can't be Kid Flash we have New Wally for that (Unless one of them goes to the future, and if that is the case I vote for New Wally to go to the future) and he won't be able to resume the name Impulse as that was Iris' name, unless she takes on the new name.

5. Invincible Iron Man #600 - Sorcerer Stark?


This was a pretty cool panel as Tony Stark in the future is a SORCERER supreme! But mainly because this Iron Man run is finally over!

These two should maybe do a team up book as the interaction with each other was well done. Even though it was very small.

3. Invincible Iron Man #600 - Rhodey Returns


Okay at this point your are saying to yourself, Mike, you must have loved Iron Man. My answer no, it just had some good moments in a very large book. Seeing Rhodey back was pretty awesome and this interaction between him and Tony was funny.

2. The Flash #47 - Sinestro Corps



Seeing the villain represent the Sinestro corps was awesome plus these constructs that represents their past enemies was great!

1.  The Terrifics #4 - It's the Thought That Counts



Seeing Plastic Man trying to comfort Phantom Girl was a great scene. He meant well.

Kickstart the Week with Steamboat Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan

For the first time ever, Kickstart the Week is showcasing a video game! Ready for an adventure-RPG inspired by legends like Zelda, Pokémon and Cuphead? Then hop aboard a boat and begin your journey in Steamboat Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan!

The Great Leviathan has cursed the world into monochromatic chaos! It’s your mission to explore the land and the sea, collect treasures and creatures, fight the Leviathan’s cronies and rebuild the city of Star Harbor. And restore all the color to the world!

Steamboat Billy’s design is inspired by American cartoons from the 1930s (particularly Disney) and has an anime flair too! It’s available in seven languages on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.


The game is created by ManaVoid Entertainment, who strive to innovate traditional genres and make something unique. They previously Kickstarted the fantasy RPG-tycoon Epic Manager and they’ve done contract work for Borealys Games’ Mages of Mystralia. Key members of the Steamboat Billy team include CEO & Technical Director Christopher Chancey, Art Director & Character Designer Anthony Vaucheret, Creative Director Kim Berthiaume and Animator Jacynthe Lefebvre Asselin. The music and SFX are being handled by Geeksound Factory.

The Kickstarter is aiming to reach its $50,051 goal by June 14, 2018 at 7:52 AM EDT. Rewards such as a digital copy of the game on the system of your choice (CA $20, about $15), closed beta access to the game (CA $30, about $23), and you can even get Kickstarter exclusive in-game pets (starting at CA $40, about $31). I spoke to Christopher Chancey and Anthony Vaucheret about the world of Steamboat Billy below.





Me: How did you come up with your four pillars of design, Exploration, Collection, Crafting and Combat?

Christopher:There are many ways to start a brainstorm for a new project, but with a postgraduate degree in video game design, my reflex is always to start with design pillars. Anthony, our Artistic Director, is the one who came up with the original concept where you would be on a boat and fish for creatures that you could capture and then have them fight with you à la Pokémon. So we already had Collection and Combat from Anthony, but the picture was a bit incomplete for me so we decided to add to the experience through Exploration, reminiscent to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Finally, we wanted to give additional interactions and importance to the fishing mechanic so we figured that you could salvage materials through fishing and that you could rebuild a city with those materials and that's when Crafting came in.


Me: Why are these pillars so important in Steamboat Billy?

Christopher:When you are making a game of the scope we are going for, it's important to have a focused vision, because there are too many opportunities where the game can go and you can easily get distracted with mechanics that aren't core to the experience. When you focus on design pillars, you are forcing yourself to think of the targeted experience first, which helps the game keep its integrity and ends up making better games in the end. We've made enough unfocused games in the past to now know things like this are what make games successful.

Me: Which of the creatures in Steamboat Billy is your favorite and why?

Christopher:Mini-Napoleon, I can't pinpoint why, but he looks so tiny, cute and determined to win that I can't help but like that one the most.

Anthony: You cannot do this to me, they are all my children! I love them all equally! *laughs*

Me: There's an option to get Kickstarter exclusive pets. What can you tell us about each of these pets and which one is your personal favorite?

Anthony: As a gamer, I always liked having a pet following me around in games. Since this is an exploration game, I found it interesting to have a friend following us visually, kind of like in Pokémon Yellow where Pikachu would follow you around throughout your journey. My favorite is definitely Piñato, because we can mount him and who doesn't like an epic mount!?

Christopher:Mine is Mr. Molson. He's a human's best friend you know...


Me: If you could spend an hour in the world of Steamboat Billy, where would you go? What would you do?

Christopher:I'd hide in a broken down shack in Star Harbor and wait for rescue, I don't have half the courage Billy does. *laughs*

Anthony: The game would probably tell me where to go and I would probably spend all of my time going rescuing inhabitants and crafting instead of the main storyline.

Me: One of the rewards people can get from this project is your previously funded game on Kickstarter, Epic Manager. What can you tell us about this game and why will people who will enjoy Steamboat Billy enjoy this other game?

Christopher:Epic Manager was the studio's first commercialized game and is a game we had also Kickstarted, so we wanted to remind our backers that we aren't among those studios who don't deliver the games they promise to make. The game we delivered on Steam was so far above what we had initially promised on Kickstarter, especially considering the limited budget we had at the time, that we felt it would be cool for people to see the evolution of where we've been to where we are now. The game is a unique management-RPG that puts you as the CEO of an Adventuring Agency where you need to recruit adventurers to go out on the world map and do quests to bring back gold to the agency. It offers a lot of weird mechanics that have never been seen in that form. The RPG aspects of Epic Manager are really complex and fleshed out, so people who are backingSteamboat Billy for the RPG combat will be convinced of how good we can make it.
 

Me: What can you tell us about ManaVoid Entertainment's history and their mission statement?

Christopher:ManaVoid is a video game development company based in Montreal, Canada that was founded in 2014. Our mission is to create gaming experiences that blend known genres, themes and mechanics in new and different ways in order to achieve something completely unique.

Me: Christopher, you’ve worked in numerous gaming departments, including Programming, Narrative Design, Game Design, Integration and Marketing. Which of these is your favorite and can you give us an example of some of the work you're most proud of in that department?

Christopher:I really enjoyed doing the Narrative Design behind Epic Manager. There was so many different branching storylines in the game that people aren't even aware of, I think I wrote something like 800 pages worth of narrative in that game. It was quite a feat and I'm certainly proud of that.


Me: Anthony, which Disney films have influenced your work the most? How have they effected your work?

Anthony: Fantasia 1940 was very influential, because of the mix of art-styles and music. This is the movie that hooked me to Disney and the character of Mickey, who was confronted with a power he didn't know how to wield and kind of had to learn as he went. Pinocchio was also a huge reference because of the story of a child who has to make his way in the world through courage and willpower.

Me: If you had to pick your three favorite designs in this game, anything from characters to creatures to areas to items, which three would you pick and why?

Anthony: 1. Billy, the main character is awesome, especially the diver helmet! *laughs*
2. Billy's Punching Rod, because it's an item with a mind of its own... You'll see...
3. The Leviathan, it's a mythical creature that everyone can understand the scale of and to see little Billy go toe to toe with him will be interesting!


Me: Your characters have an anime-flair to them. What are some of your favorite anime that have informed the style we see in Steamboat Billy?

Anthony: The obvious inspirations would be Pokémon, but the latest inspiration would be Aggretsuko because of the animation style and the cute touch of Sanrio characters.

Me: Christopher, what inspirational words do you have for fellow CEOs and technical directors in the video game industry?

Christopher:The industry in the past few years is changing rapidly, competition has never been fiercer than it is today. So make sure you have an idea that can stand out against the rest of what's out there and you should be fine. Also remember that game development is a mix of Art, Design and Programming. Make sure those three things are covered by experts in your company and play to the strengths of those experts. If one of those are lacking then you will have trouble being successful in this industry.


Me: And Anthony, what inspirational words do you have for fellow art directors and character designers in the video game industry?

Anthony: Creating anything is a tough task these days because there's never been more competition in the industry. But this is also a good thing, because it means that people are creating more and more universes we can all delve into and enjoy. It really all comes down to hard work, being different, creating your own community and giving people something that stimulates their imagination! Good luck out there!

Me: What is the number one reason you think people should pledge your Kickstarter project?

Christopher:Steamboat Billy is really a beautifully weird and awesome idea that we think can work if given the chance. Pledging to our Kickstarter gives us that chance and allows us to make the game a priority instead of just a project we'd make in between contract jobs. Plus, on top of the rebate for the game, we are giving away a ton of exclusive goodies to our Kickstarter backers so there's also that incentive! :D

Anthony: If you want to relive that moment when you came back from school and played Pokémon on GameBoy or The Legend of Zelda on the GameCube, then this is your opportunity to help us make that game for you and for the younger generation coming home from school!

Marvel Welcomes Carmen Carnero to X-MEN RED! 
Rising artist Carmen Carnero joins Tom Taylor on X-Men Red, starting this July!

Marvel is excited to announce that this July, artist Carmen Carnero will join X-MEN RED as the series’ regular artist alongside writer Tom Taylor. Carnero’s work for Marvel includes Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Cyclops, and The Punisher (where she holds the distinction of being the first female artist to ever draw the character’s ongoing series.)

“It’s always special to return to where I was given my first opportunity in American comic books, especially a book so successful as X-Men Red is. It’s a lot of responsibility, but a welcome one! I’ve been really lucky, because the team’s lineup, all of it, it’s SO amazing and a dream for me. Jean Grey leading a super group formed by the best female and male mutant heroes? I can’t ask for more, especially having my favorite female characters as part of the group. And I already adore Gabby. It’s impossible not to!”

5. Ms. Marvel #30 - Who Is Going To Organize The Spring Fling?


I love everything about this panel! This issue was extremely meta on how they handled the spring fling, you know if a genre teen story has a dance coming up then something is going to go down, and our heroes were prepared for this. I also enjoyed the line about Zoe and Josh - two characters who could have easily been background characters show so much character development throughout the course of the series, especially Zoe.  

4. Ms. Marvel #30 - Zoe Finds A Love Interest


Damn, I've grown to love Zoe. She's probably my favorite character of the whole series. I'm glad she is finally finding the happiness she deserves.

3. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Dying Words


Speaking of supporting characters with great character development - let's talk about Flash Thompson! The character that defined the generic high school bully, who later turned into a hero. I love that he discovered that his hero and best friend were the same person. It was such a poetic ending for his character.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Take A Bullet


This is Spider-Man right here! He takes a bullet to save his greatest enemy, and to save J. Jonah's humanity.

1. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Flash Thompson is my Hero!


I got teary eyed with this one, what a beautiful send off to Flash Thompson. It shows that Flash didn't just learn from Peter, but Peter also learned what it meant to be a hero from Flash.

5. Valiant High #1 - He's All That.


This is just a funny line from an off-the-wall book that presents the Valiant Universe as if they were all in high school together. Love where they're going with this plot.

4.  Batman: Prelude to Wedding: Robin vs. Ra's Al Ghul #1 - Camembert Captain --


This is just a hilarious scene to me. To learn that super serious Damian sneaks into an arcade at night to play, of all things, Cheese Viking is just too good.


3. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Blonds In High Places


Anyone that knows anything about Spider-Man knows where this line came from, and it just speaks of the ruthlessness and heartlessness of Norman Osborn here.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Why?


I cheated a little here as it's technically four panels, but this sequence in the aftermath of JJJ shooting Peter is just so powerful. After all these years, Spidey is teaching Jonah a very important lesson here, the lesson he's tried to live by his entire superhero career.

Flash speaking his final words calling Pete - not just Spidey - his hero and friend, is so touching and emotional. One of the best scenes, yet saddest scenes in the book and in Slott's long run.

5. Green Arrow Annual #2 - With Zero Powers Come Great Responsibility....


One of the most known comic book taglines gets a new twist and I love it! The line coming from J'onn is perfect and not to be outdone Ollie responds in true Ollie fashion with "Hey I didn't ASK for RESPONSIBILITY!" This is just an awesome scene and barely beat out Star Trek and Gabby (X-Men Red) for the 5th spot, it was a tough week.

4. Batman: Prelude to Wedding: Robin vs. Ra's Al Ghul #1 - Deal!


Damian and me, we have a history, one built on a cycle of love, hate, and at times love to hate. But this, this is pure love. I love this scene, Selina and Damian coming to an agreement that they will always have each other's backs, I hope we see this play out.

3. The Man Of Steel #1 - He Didn't Sell It!


I don't care tease me because I am saying it, this was adorable! I love that Jon is growing up and his uniform is getting too small, maybe we can see a new (better) uniform? But the reason why this is here, is because we all been in this scene, as the parent, or child. The kid tells one parent what the other parent said but not the context and the parents give each other the look like "really?" This is that moment and it is a small moment but man I loved it. This is the Lane-Kent's that I know and love. Bendis you get my stamp of approval.


2. The Flash - Speed Buggy Special #1 - Love/Hate!


As the caption says I both love and hate this scene. Why? Because I love that we finally have Wally and Linda together again and those lines YES!!!! Those lines are 100% Wally & Linda, but I hate it because this isn't in a book like The Flash or Titans, this is in a crossover that isn't in continuity. DAMN YOU DC!!!! So many teases here like Bart being back (even if he is in Bar Torr's costume) he was in character and all! COME ON DC!!!!

1. The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Flash Thompson Is My Hero/Did I Ever Tell You're My Hero?


Bette Midler's song "Wind Beneath My Wings" was playing in my head during the funeral scene and man it fit so right here. I hate that Flash is gone, but I hope he does return, we deserve to have Peter and Flash be actual friends with no secret identities between them.

HONORARY MENTION: The Amazing Spider-Man #800 - Go Get 'im Tiger!


The moment with M.J. and Peter was not very big however I loved it. An Amazing Spider-Man issue is not complete without M.J. saying tiger in it.

Suspicious of Lotor's alliance with Voltron, Galra oppressors continue to invade and conquer vulnerable planets throughout the universe.  A hyper-focused Team Voltron feels the need to liberate helpless planets and begins a massive campaign to save millions of lives. But after the Paladins uncover some troubling information, they must engage in their most epic battle yet.
