This is one of the few instances in these confessionals that really leaps out and speaks to the psychological trauma some of these characters face. And it's a very human question to ask.

The Scooby Gang learns of Xander's fate. Note that to get the full story you need to read Buffy The Vampire Slayer FCBD 2019 story in the middle of this issue. Bellaire continues an excellent job at re-envisioning the world of Buffy The Vampire Slayer while respecting everything the original was. Xander a character who was often overlooked in the show is now given the spotlight and could be forever changed. This issue could also be a spin on the Season One episode "The Pack" where Xander is possessed by a Hyena, the two share the theme of Xander being cruel to everyone especially Willow.  The downside I would say was the art. Now the art was by no means bad, but it did lack that magical balance of original and familiar that Mora's art accomplishes. But what López does great here is the emoting especially through the eyes which are extremely expressive adding more emotion to the scenes. Overall little nuggets like this really make the series stand above other reboots/re-imaginings. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The penultimate issue of Adventures of The Super Sons where they must team up with Tommy Tomorrow, Joker Jr. Space Cabbie, Teen Lantern, and their future selves to take of the Injustice Gang. Tomasi does a great job here with the Super Sons, he has their voices down. What this issue does the best is really show us how far these two have come, Jon and Damian have really bonded and become good friends that could rival their father's legendary friendship. We are left with a great cliffhanger with Rex about enact his ultimate plan and the Super Sons trapped, Tomasi does a great job in keeping us hanging until the next issue. Barberi manages to capture all the fun of being a kid in every panel and deliver some of the best action scenes. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

Young Justice must unite, take down Dark Opal, and get back home. The first story arc wraps up pretty quick. Bendis spent this whole arc in Gem World making it feel like it was more important but in the end, it was kind of empty as it was all quickly resolved. With that said I did like how it ended with the fate of the Young Justice team being uncertain. John Timms does a nice job with the art, especially the background humor with Bart, which I have to say is Bendis' strongest character as well. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Avengers must stop Count Nefaria before he merges the two stones and unleashes an army he controls on the world. This issue cleans up a little of my problems with the last issue where it fills us in on where we came in the last issue. This book delivers on the action as the title indicates but I feel like this arc misses some of the character moments that made me like the last arc. Sommarvia continues to do a great job bringing an animated influence to the book, almost capturing a Wolverine and The X-Men. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Paper Girls are reunited in 1831 in the penultimate issue of the series. This series is about to wrap up and for the last few issues, Vaughn has been trying to jam the pages with as many "answers" as possible. Here we get the final face-off between the Old-Timers and the Teenagers who are with the clones and time-displaced versions of some of the Paper Girls when Jahpo arrives with the real Erin. The revelation by Jahpo was so forced and rushed and the whole ending feels very Duece Ex Machina and not an organic conclusion. I also felt this sacrificed some character moments like Tiffany not reacting to KJ and Mac kissing, in the '80s this was still a big thing, especially for their age. The art here is still amazing and bold and the use of colors to play off themes brings is brilliant. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

Rick is shot and Carl has to kill his own father. This issue was very rushed we went from Rick being shot to Carl having to shoot his now Walker dad to them finding the shooter and taking Rick's body back home all in one issue. Everything just went by so fast that we didn't get a chance to have any real emotions and the ones we did get were from Carl and seemed forced. While reading this issue I couldn't help but wonder if it was just Kirkman wanting to do something big to get people talking and used Carl's death on the show but reverse it so Rick is the one that is turned and killed. The art in here was good as usual and Adlard and crew did a great job visually conveying emotions that weren't there scriptually. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Warners find out the truth about Moloth but is it too late for them? This has been an amazing mini-series and this was a great ending to it. Now this wasn't a perfect issue, because I would have preferred it be spread over two issues to get more character beats in it like them dealing with their father's death and Moloth infiltrating them a little longer, but it was very solid. They way everything flowed was nicely timed and executed and I kind of love that we didn't get that closure because this story isn't over (yes I understood the code Lowe) so I am going to be paying special attention to my Marvel books from now on looking for one of the Warners. The themes here were so great from family to self hatred and acceptance were so well done Thompson did an amazing job. Henrichon also did one as he brought this whole thing to life making us feel for the family of spies as a family. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The New Agents of Atlas plan their final attack on Sinder and take the fight to her. I am LOVING this mini-series and want it to be an ongoing so bad! Pak does a great job balancing this huge cast of characters giving them each time to shine and showcase their personalities. I also have to give a slow clap for bringing in Monkey King and keeping him so cocky, and a hell yeah when Shang Chi puts him in his place! Pak does such a great job here and pays attention to little things like something that bonds all of us is food and using Spam, something that is popular in Asian counties was a nice touch. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

BOOM! Studios, under license by Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), today revealed a first look at one of the biggest mysteries in Power Rangers history as the GO GO POWER RANGERS series joins the epic Necessary Evil event in July 2019.


GO GO POWER RANGERS #21, from the writing duo of Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) & Sina Grace (Iceman) and artist Francesco Mortarino (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), begins to reveal new secret history behind the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with the introduction of all new characters, new alliances and jaw-dropping answers to some of the biggest questions that fans have always asked.



The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are back on Earth after the incredible events of Shattered Grid, but they don’t seem to remember the details of their epic battle withLord Drakkon, the twisted alternate-reality version of Tommy Oliver, who threatened to destroy the very fabric of the universe before the combined might of Power Rangers from across the galaxy ended his nefarious plan. So why don’t the Power Rangers recall exactly what happened? And what does that have to do with the strange events occurring around them? The answers to these game-changing questions will reveal the untold story behind one of the most explosive reveals in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers history.

Up in the sky, in the dark of the night, trust no one—for the Secret Six walk among us! Spinning out of the devastating events of DC’s THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS, Superman and Batman join to­gether once more in an all-new monthly comic book—and they’re facing a terrifying new threat that could strike from anywhere. Writer Joshua Williamson (THE FLASH,JUSTICE LEAGUE/SUICIDE SQUAD) and artist David Marquez (Civil War II, Avengers) are teaming-up in BATMAN/SUPERMAN, debuting on August 14, 2019.

Riverdale Bachelor is over as Archie hands out his final petunia to one young lady. This issue is a bit of a mix, it is the first part of a five-part story arc, or it is supposed to be, but it is just the end of the previous arc and a prelude to the next arc. I don't mind it but it isn't the first part of this story. This keeps pulling me more into this new world of Archie, that is continuing to become more like the show Riverdale. The Archie and Sabrina romance really has me along for the ride, looking forward to this arc and seeing where it all started. Spencer does a great job working in the mysteries in the background with Jughead and Reggie and even the ominous with Sabrina. But I am really looking forward to seeing Betty and Veronica be rivals when Archie is not at the center. Jarrell does a great job bringing in the same sense of old and new with the art as Spencer does with the story. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The House of El unites to save Jor-El and take on threats from all sides. This was a really solid issue with Bendis showing the unity and strength of the House of El. The weakest point would be how it jibes with Supergirl #31, but there are always issues with books that intersect when they are done by different teams. Bendis really shows that he is going for a Superman Epic with this run having it being in chapters and introduces new themes into the world of Superman. I am cautious about re-exploring how Jor-El was saved from the destruction of Krypton and I hope it isn't a reboot of it. The art shines the most when Ivan Reis is alone, not that the other artist who has pitched in is bad, but it shows a disconnect with the art and here it is more complete. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Wonder Twins take down the League of Annoyance, but not before they commit serious damage. I love the fun and joy in this mini that just became a maxi-series, but this issue was weighed down by the pseudo-social politics soapboxing that I hate about it. At its best, this issue was quirky and hilarious with the Wonder Twins bringing down the League and had me cracking up. At its worst, it threw in a lot of social politics with racism that really ruined the overall issue for me. social issues have a place in comics but for me, this is not the one it should be in. The art though was incredibly joyful and brought back all of the fun of the book. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

Spider-Man gives his Amazing Friends their webshooters as Kraven tests and observes them. I LOVE this book! Burnham doesn't miss a beat with the story, ups the stakes with Kraven taking out two of the webspinners, and sets up the big confrontation. But the thing I really enjoyed is how balanced the story is we have the three webheads here yet I never felt one of them were the star, loved seeing both Miles and Gwen's supporting characters being used and the three of them working together. Jones does no wrong on the art, I love the way he delivers his animated style to the book. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The battle with the Prophets have shaken things up and now the teams must take on the Borg! Another thrilling true-to-Trek issue from the Tiptons! Again every character was written completely in time with their onscreen counterparts. I also loved all of the nods to the franchise continuity, with Corbin Bernsen's Q, to Amanda, to Wesley and the Traveler, to the Borg, I just loved it! The art continues to impress me, while not capturing the actors 100% of the time Messina hits the marks when it is important. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

The Champions enter The War Of The Realms. I am not too keen on The War of The Realms or the tie-ins (save for New Agents of Atlas) but this was a solid offering. We get to see some of the newer recruits shine here like Falcon, Bombshell. Patriot, Dust, Pinpoint and Power Man, introduce Hummingbird (how I missed you) to the team without ignoring original members Viv and Ms. Marvel. But the best thing is that this tie-in didn't let the event overpower it, instead, it used it to bring forth the ongoing plot from the title. Zub did a great job with weaving these two plots together. Ramirez continues to impress me with the art and Menyz's colors compliment it so well. ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

As Aunt May deals with her cancer battle she faces another battle to keep F.E.A.S.T. up and running. Tom Taylor really brings the neighborhood to Spider-Man in this series by doing these great down-home stories that merge the two worlds of Peter Parker. Taylor expertly uses the flashback in the story by tying an early lesson on charity to the main story which also focusing on it. Lashley does an amazing job on the art keeping it modern and fresh while Woodward throws in the old school feel with the colors.  ~ Jay @ComicBookTheate

So many great scenes in this first issue of Superman Year One. I really enjoyed the story of Young Clark growing up and learning about his powers. In this scene Clark accidentally sets the kitchen on fire with his heat vision after eating hot oatmeal. I can only imagine what Ma and Pa had to go through with Clark throughout the years.
