Last week Marvel teased"Original Sin: Thor & Loki Have One." Today at C2E2 2014 Marvel revealed what Thor and Loki's Sin was.... or who it is? But that wasn't it. The panel went into what some of the other Sins are in the Marvel Universe and where they fit in with the main event book.

The gave the following teasers for the tie-ins:

  • Original Sin #3 - Will feature Black Bolt and the relatively new character Lineage who will play a role in Inhuman.
  • Amazing Spider-Man - Will introduce the girl who was also bit by the spider that bit Peter who goes by the name Silk and will play a role in Spider-Verse.
  • All-New Invaders #6-#7 - Will have Golden Girl's (A Japanese woman from the Invaders past) granddaughter Radiance who finds out that they could have ended WWII without the atomic bombs but didn't.
  • Fantastic Four #6-#7 - Reveals how Johnny did something that prevented Ben from returning to a normal human and that Ben and Reed kept it from him. This will lead into Ben Grimm being a murderer.
  • Original Sin:Hulk& Iron Man - Tony finds out  his connection to the Gamma Bomb and how it will change Tony and Bruce's relationship forever.
  • Daredevil #6 - Matt finds out that his mother left him and his father when he was a baby. Then he finds out that his mother (Sister Maggie) is in prison.
  • Uncanny X-Men #23 - The Last Will And Testament Of Charles Xavier
  • Deadpool #29 - The truth about what happened to Deadpool's family, and it's not good.
  • Nova #18-#19 - Reveals the secrets of Sam's dad and the Black Nova Corps.Nova also takes the loss of the watcher the hardest as he thought of him as a friend.
  • Mighty Avengers #10 - #11 - Deals with Luke Cage and Blue Marvel's past in the 70's along with Luke's father who was a cop.

After that Nick Lowe revealed that Angela is Thor and Loki's sister, which will be told in its own mini-series. Original Sin: Thor and Loki: The Tenth Realm #1-5 (Original Sin #5.1-#5.5) will be a spin-off mini-series focusing on the reveal, by Jason Aaron, Al Ewing, Simone Bianchi, and Lee Garbet. The series will add to the traditional nine realms of the Thor universe and reveal the "Tenth Realm" that she comes from, and the fact that Odin is Angela's biological father.

I exhibited at Asbury Park Comic Con as Argo Comics and followed with Easter. add in busy work weeks and problems with my computer and we have some VERY late hauls. These are the previous 2 weeks with this week's coming soon.
WARNING: There is no bonus clip. due to said computer problems, the video did not stop when I clicked stop. When I sign off it's over but feel free to enjoy 40 seconds of me staring at the screen and wondering why it's frozen, lol.

Marvel's Next Event: AXIS!

$

With Original Sin just getting underway Marvel has already started gearing up towards its next big event: AXIS! The teaser image was seen at the conclusion of the Wolverine: 3 Months To Die Panel at C2E2 earlier today.

There was no other information given yet, but from the title and image it is pretty much certain that this event is the sequel to the 2012 Avengers Vs X-Men. At the conclusion of that crossover of Marvel’s two premiere super-teams Professor Charles Xavier, leader and mentor of the X-Men was killed by the Phoenix-possessed Scott Summers.

In the wake of that shocking event the worlds of both teams and the Marvel Universe was forever altered. Cyclops formed his own team of X-Men and has been both a fugitive and Mutant Activist. The Avengers and Mutants formed a new alliance with a team comprised of Avengers and Mutants, the Uncanny Avengers. It is events in that title that I suspect will be the focal point of AXIS.

One of the main plots from Uncanny Avengers has been Red Skull taking the brain of Professor X and placing it in his head granting him the powers of one of the most powerful telepaths in the world. Given the connection between Red Skull and the Axis and the logos of both teams prominently shown in the teaser image it is safe to assume that this is a follow up to A Vs X with Red Skull as the villain.

Justice League Movie Announced

The last week saw two announcements from Warner Bros. on the DC Cinematic Universe front. The first was the casting of Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg in the Batman vs. Superman movie Thursday night followed by yesterday’s announcement that Zack Snyder will be directing theJustice League movie.

Yesterday’s announcement marked the first time that the studio confirmed their plans on bringing their premiere super-team to the big screen, when Greg Silverman, President of Worldwide Production said that the studio has set plans to make a Justice Leaguemovie.

Following Man of Steel and the sequel tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman (which begins production next month), Justice Leaguewill be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) are all expected to reprise their Batman vs. Superman roles for the Justice League movie. If the movie follows the pattern of The New 52 Justice LeagueRay Fisher (Cyborg) will most likely be returning for the Justice League movie as well leaving Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman from The New 52 Justice League yet to be cast.
“It will be a further expansion of this universe. Superman vs Batman will lead into Justice League.”
– Greg Silverman, President of Worldwide Production

The Justice Leaguescript is still in the development stage and Warner Bros.hasn’t announced a release date. The company’s recent commitment to bringing their DC properties to movie theaters shows that they gearing up to catch up to their rival Walt Disney Co.’sMarvel Studios Superhero Cinematic Universe.

Warner Bros. hasn’t had much success with their superhero movies outside of the Dark Knight Trilogy, with both Green Lantern and Jonah Hex flopping at the box office. But with the recent success of Man of SteelWarner Bros. has plans on changing that with several other DC/Vertigomovies unconnected to the Justice League in various stages of development. Silverman and Toby Emmerich, President of Warner’s New Line Cinema label say they include Shazam, Metal Men, 100 Bullets, and Fables.

When asked about their plans for a Justice League spinoff featuring Gal Gadot’sWonder Woman, Warner executives said they’re warm to the idea:
“That is our hope. With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”

– Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing

The Goddess of Thunder Reigns Supreme in July’s STORM #1!

This May, the heart and soul of the X-Men flies solo for the first time in STORM #1, a brand new ongoing series from New York Times Bestselling writer Greg Pak(The Incredible Hulk, Superman/Batman) and fan-favorite artist Victor Ibanez (Defenders, Wonder Woman)!

From a thief on the streets of Cairo to the Headmistress of the Jean Grey School to the Queen of Wakanda and everything in between, Ororo Monroe has always defied a single title. Her desire to better the world was never limited to just her own kind. On a mission to foster goodwill and safeguard her fellow mutants in her own way, Storm will embark on a new journey.
“If you tell Storm she can't go somewhere, that's exactly where she's going to go. She's got an incredibly strong sense of justice and empathy earned through years of hard experience. And her empathy isn't limited to whatever group she's standing with at the moment. Storm will do the right thing--as she sees it--without apology. That's incredibly strong--and potentially very costly for her.”
— Greg Pak

STORM #1 marks the very first ongoing series for the character and joins a number of critically acclaimed new solo series featuring female leads as a part of the All-New Marvel NOW! initiative.
"And Storm makes seven.  Starring for the first time in her own ongoing series, and joining the wave of new series anchored by female characters — a list that includes Black Widow, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Elektra, Ms. Marvel and the all-female X-Men— comes one of the world's most popular mutants. It's about time."
 — Axel Alonso, Editor In Chief

You cannot stop a force of nature. She is Storm, a hero with no equal…and the skies will tremble at the sight of their namesake! Get swept up as STORM #1 thunders into comic shops this July!

The Reyes Countdown #5 Week Of 4/23/14

By: Reyes

Hey Comic Book fans! This is a series where I (Jay Reyes) review every book I got in one week and pick my favorite.

Red Lanterns #30 (Number 8: Worst pick of the week)

Red Lantern #30 was a complete disappointment for me this week and that's really disheartening. I’ve liked most of the issues I've read since #19 but this one was by far my least favorite of issue of the series to date. After a great cliffhanger from #29 in which we saw Bleez broken and bloodied warn the Red Lanterns that Atrocitus has returned and seeks revenge on Guy Gardner.  This issue follows up on that very poorly and leaves you with kind of a meh ending that makes you pick up Supergirl to read the next part of the story. I’m going to pick up the next part of the story but I hope it gets better and doesn’t bore me as much as this issue did.

Walking Dead #126 (Number 7)

This issue wasn’t drawn badly or even really written that badly, but it was completely and utterly disappointing. All Out War was supposed to be a game changing event but all this issue felt like was a cop out. (SPOILER ALERT Highlight To Read) The whole issue revolved around Negan and Rick fighting off in that one area and Negan gets shot . Now you would think that Negan would be killed off but nope he was left alive for stupid reason.  Now look I get that you can’t just go around killing of main characters willy nilly and I don’t like it when that happens either. But this event was so hyped up that I felt like it was going to change the walking dead and bring it in a new direction. I was hoping for some new faces to be added in the mix but all we got was a cop out ending. This event as a whole wasn’t as necessary as it was hyped up to be but hopefully The Walking Dead can get back on track after this disappointing finale.

The Flash #30 (Number 6)

Will the real Wally West please stand up? This issue didn’t really get me that excited for this big Flash arc coming up and the Wally West reintroduction is really just stupid. I don’t agree with changing some characters race for the sake of change and that's what this issue did. The story was pretty straight forward and was just Barry dealing with what happened to Central City. I’m really hoping Robert Venditti doesn’t mess upFlashas he did with Green Lantern.

Daredevil #2 (Number 5)

Daredevil#2 was kind of a hit and a miss for me personally this week. I really love the art and the feel of this series. But the story just really isn’t interesting for me and this whole Foggy is dead thing is very annoying and kind of confusing. I know nothing about this new villain called the Shroud but it definitely has me interested. I wonder why the quality of this book kind of jumped down because it was so great before the relaunch.

Fantastic Four #3 (Number 4)

Fantastic Four has been FANTASTIC since its beginning and this issue isn’t any different.  FLAME OFF... ON... Anyway, This issue might not have not been the best issue of Fantastic Four since its beginning but it certainly is good. The art is really good to look at and the story has a lot of heart. The Namor and Sue page was by far the best this book had to offer, it  sad and brilliantly written and made me remember how much Namor actually likes Sue. The whole issue was great but it had some pacing problems and the art was a bit off at some points.

Justice League United #0 (Top 3: Surprise of the week)

(SPOILER ALERT Highlight To Read) Hawkman vs Lobo that is all. But in all seriousness I really enjoyed this issue and I wasn’t even that excited for it. I didn’t think it would be bad but I thought it would just be an average read but I was very wrong. This issue had all the lighthearted fun action that it needed to have mixed in with real drama from Adam Strange's strange dilemma. I really can’t wait to see that show down with Hawkman and Lobo and I’m interested in how they are going to incorporate a red ring less Supergirl into this series. One problem I had was with the art. It wasn’t very good but hopefully it gets better because it’s the only thing holding it back from getting a higher grade.

Batman Eternal #3 (Number 2)

Pre-New 52 returns are running rampant this week it almost seems as if it was planned or something. Stephanie Brown is back in purple and her dad is a total a**Hole. This issue made me feel a certain way because I was super interested in Stephanie Brown's return but the other stuff about the corruption of the Mayor and Carmine Falcone was just kind of bleh to me. I definitely didn’t hate that story but I was just not as interested. The art was absolutely gorgeous and all of the Batman shots were stunning. This series is a really good addition to the New 52.

Original Sin #0 (Number 1: Best of the week)

Batman Eternal might of gotten a 5 out of 5 but issue got number one because it hit emotionally for me. I really never liked the Watcher because he seemed kind of boring and he just didn’t resonate with me. This issue made me care about the Watcher wholeheartedly, and if that was the objective than bravo Mark Waid because sir you made me care. The spots with Nova were really amazing and the (SPOILER ALERT Highlight To Read) end with the Watcher telling Nova verbally that his father was not dead really got me. I hope this set up issue is a sign of what's to come with Original Sin because if Original Sin is another Infinity or Age of Ultron then I would be highly disappointed in Marvel. Hopefully this event turns out great.

Outrage Against Amazon’s Handling of comiXology

$
0
0

By: Nicole D'Andria

Remember when Amazon acquired comiXology (the most popular online digital comic book store) and I said I was optimistic about it?

Yeah, this is why I’m always cautiously optimistic.

Apparently, to avoid paying any transaction fees to Google or Apple, Amazon has changed the comiXology app. In the recent update, many users were upset to find out that you can no longer buy comic books using the iOS app. Instead, you must buy comics using the website and they will sync to the app when it’s opened. This won’t be a problem for Android users, however, but they cannot use Google Wallet to purchase comics. They have to register and use either a credit card or a Paypal account, another way to cut Google out from the profits.

Another change that has upset people is that the apps will not be notified when there are sales. To be notified about the sale, you now have to sign up for comiXology’s newsletter.

Honestly, I don’t think this will hurt comiXology or be that much of an irritation for users. I have the app for my phone but I hate shrinking comic books down to that size. I prefer reading it on my computer anyway and can easily buy comics while I'm there… if I’m not reading a physical copy, that is. I know the changes make purchasing the comics and finding out about the sales a bit of a hassle… but isn’t that a first world problem right there? There are people who can’t make enough to eat and yet everyone’s so upset that you can’t buy comics using a phone and instead have to use a computer.

However will we go on?

Amazon realizes this will upset users, so they have created some incentive to upgrade. According to the company in a blog post, "...to thank our loyal customers and ease this transition, we are offering a $5 eGift Card credit to all those who have purchased through the comiXology platform in the past... This credit will be automatically applied throughout the day to those accounts who are eligible and all of those eligible have 30 days to purchase books with that credit. Enjoy."
